in-person & on Zoom
Join with KBS members, friends and guests for our May Shabbat service, next Saturday, May 24, at New Thought Center Hawai`i in Kealakekua. Aviva Plaut leads the service with Rabbi Shari Joy Berman reading from parashah: B'har - בְּהַר ("on the mountain") Vayikra/Leviticus 25:1 - 26:2 - which declares the "sh'mita" or sabbatical every seventh year and the jubilee every 50th year, when working the land is prohibited, debts are forgiven, and slaves are to be offered freedom. The parashah includes the famous line inscribed on the Liberty Bell: "proclaim liberty throughout the land and unto all the inhabitants thereof."
Afterward, stay for a Kiddush & Kibbitz potluck. You're invited to bring a dish to share (but no meat or shellfish). If you are unable to attend in person, the service will also be live-streamed via Zoom.Contact Us – Kona Beth Shalom
