The mountain apples in East Oahu are at their peak ripeness. There is a short window when they can be harvested after which they fall to the ground. Thus this is a last minute event. We will walk up to the mountain apple grove up at the end of Wailupe Valley. It should take approximately 3 hours out of your day. We will meet at the trail-head at 8:30 am before the day gets too hot. The walk is less than a mile.  It is on a rocky irregular trail, so it is not recommend for people who are at risk for falls, have balance problems, or are unsteady on their feet. For that reason participants will be asked to sign a waiver of liability. The rewards are the trek through the bamboo forest and the mountain apple picking and like most of the best things in life, it's free!

Wear walking shoes and bring mosquito repellent, sunscreen, and water if needed.

RSVP to stevesullam@gmail.com for directions to the trail-head.
