Please join us for a special session. Roger Epstein will teach us basic mindfulness meditation (known as Shamata meditation in Tibetan Buddhism), and will take us through a meditation body scan, from MBSR (mindfulness-based stress reduction). Meditation has been shown to have many positive health effects and developing a practice could be an important addition to one's self-care.
Roger is a retired Hawaii corporate tax lawyer, who began meditating in 1976 with two master meditation teachers: Lama Karma Rinchen, a Tibetan Buddhist, and Lily Siou, a Taoist priestess. Over the years he has done many retreats in the Vipassna Buddhist and other traditions. He is a graduate of the John Kabat Zinn Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction program (which has been used at the Massachusetts General Hospital for over 40 years), and an officer of Mindfulness Hawaii. Roger was co-host of The Hawaii Forgiveness Project for 20 years.
We encourage everyone to remain after the program for a "brown-bag" lunch. Bring a sandwich. Beverages and dessert will be provided. New members are welcome.
We are looking forward to seeing you!
